| Medicine Drums Medicine Drums are handcrafted octagonal frame drums that are instilled with the spirit of the tree, the elk, the maker and the receiver. The frames and hides are prepared in Oregon by Grey Wolf, a Native American of Cherokee heritage. Scott builds the Medicine Drums in places that honor spirit - usually in the mountains or deserts. Each drum comes with a "history" stating where the drum was crafted and where and when the drum was birthed, or given a voice. Drums can also be commissioned, that is, you may request a drum built specifically for your intention, at the location of your choice. The drum will not be "birthed" but rather given to you un-played, so that you will be the one who instills a voice into the drum. Another option is to build your own drum with Scott's instruction. The fee for instruction is $75. 15" Elk Hide Drum, non-commissioned - $120 15" Elk Hide Drum, commissioned - $120 plus travel Decorated Drum Beater - $25 (note - Basic Drum Beaters are included with the drum, but they are not decorated. Scott encourages people to make their own beaters so as to have more a personal touch with their medicine drum.) |

"The drum is the Great Spirit's favorite instrument. That's why we were all given a heartbeat." --Mano, Navajo Elder |
